Language Learning Simulation
"Tender for a new PCB"

Simulation Steps to Follow

Step One:
1. Introduction of the simulation activity, and taking a look at the scenario.
2. Negotiating the scenario.
3. Finalising the scenario.
4. Making sure that all understand the structure and necessities of the simulationactivity.

Step Two:
Finding out about (a) the process of tenders and competitive tendering, (b) negotiations. Reviewing (c) requests for quotation, and (d) quotation.

Step Three:
1. Identifying Organisations, Roles and Duties.
2. Creating presentation content.
3. Deciding how to present the organisation.

Customer organisations:

Customers/organisations have two or three participants in each. The clients study the simulation scenario, specify who they are, where they work, and how they operate etc.

Supplier Companies:

Step Four:

Step Five:

Step Six:

Step Seven:

NOTE: This is a tight schedule, and there are no extra weeks. You will commit to accomplish your part of the simulation, without being a "free-rider" or one who is always late.

This is the situation:

Siemens wants to announce a tender for a new PCB, and is iniviting both Company A and Company B for bid.

The main points for negotiations:

  1. Definition of the PCB requirements (smaller size, lower voltage).
  2. The cost of designing the system.
  3. The cost of installing the system
  4. Maintenance issues.
  5. Delivery time and payment

1. Prospective customer: Siemens

Some initial ideas to work on;  brainstorm and discuss further on the basis of these questions:

We need to give a mini-presentation of Siemens using a flip - how are we going to do that?
What will be the message of mini-presentation?

ROLES AND DUTIES:
